Do you avoid having your picture taken due to missing teeth? There’s no need to live with the embarrassment from a lackluster smile anymore. Dr. Zenon conveniently places dental implants right in his office, utilizing the latest technology such as cone beam x-rays and digital scanning. The three-dimensional cone beam x-ray, combined with a digital scan of the teeth, provides a surgical guide for precise implant placement.
Dental implants can replace missing teeth as well as help secure dentures. Replacing teeth with implants helps maintain bone and facial structures, allowing patients to enjoy their favorite foods and gain confidence through beautiful smiles.
Why get dental implants?
Dental implants can create an amazing transformation. They not only look like your actual teeth, but they function that way too! Imagine being able to laugh, smile and enjoy your favorite foods without worry. Dental implants restore your smile’s look and functionality back to normal and maintain your bone and facial structure.
Here at Gateway Park Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, we focus on biomimetic dentistry, meaning that we use materials that mimic your natural teeth and are more compatible with your body’s chemistry. Our dental implants are no different! They are lightweight yet strong, and biocompatible.
Benefits of dental implants include:
- Replace missing teeth
- Maintain your bone and facial structure
- Enjoy your favorite foods again
- Gain the confidence of a beautiful smile
What are dental implants?
Dental implants are a permanent replacement for one or more missing teeth. By bonding to the jawbone, they provide permanent support for dental crowns and dentures, mimicking the look, feel and functionality of natural teeth.
How long is the procedure and what is the typical healing time?
Typically after an implant is placed, Dr. Zenon will wait between two to three months before attaching a crown to the implant. However, the amount of time the procedure lasts can vary depending on the situation. If any teeth are to be removed and bone grafting is required, we recommend four months for patients to heal before placing an implant. After healing, an implant can be placed, which is given three to four months to heal. After that time, a crown can be placed. In cases with no grafting, an implant can be placed and a tooth can be restored within three months. Rest assured that Dr. Zenon offers a variety of options for replacing missing teeth temporarily while implants are healing.
How long do implants last?
Dental implants can last a lifetime if properly cared for and maintained with regular dental appointments. The crown placed on the implant typically lasts for about 10 to 15 years, and the best way to keep your implant and crown in prime working condition is to practice excellent oral hygiene habits. If you need assistance establishing or improving your hygiene routine, we can help show you how!
Why is biomimetic dentistry better?
Biomimetic dentistry is a type of dentistry that works to conserve as much of the natural tooth as possible. Because teeth move, bend and have physical dynamics of force that must be accounted for when re-making the tooth, traditional materials typically used in dentistry are often too stiff or strong. Using materials that more closely match natural teeth allow the tooth to move and flex as it should. With biomimetic dentistry, the potential for more extreme dental procedures such as root canals and fractured teeth can be reduced or eliminated, which helps preserve the pulp of the tooth. Preserving the pulp is vital to the lifespan of a tooth. Biomimetic dentistry also aims to help reduce the economic implications of advanced, invasive dental treatment, which can have a profound impact on our patients’ lives.
